Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room...

When it comes to Christmas carols, I love Jingle Bell Rock. Oh...wait, that's not a carol. I love "Joy to the World," especially the line that says, "Let every heart prepare Him room." And yet, it is so easy for us to shut God out, even during the season of His Son's birth. We get so caught up in parties, Christmas songs, and gift shopping at 1:00 am that the reason for all this hoopla-the day that God sent His Son to this earth in human form, the turning point of human history-can easily get lost in the shuffle.

When we "prepare Him room" in our hearts, however, we give God control of our lives. And in return, we receive the peace and the joy that only Christ can give. That is greater than any gift we receive this year. This Christmas, it is my special prayer that you know the joy of Jesus being the true king of your life . . . and that your heart is filled with true worship and celebration for His birth. It is the purpose for which God created you: to know Him, to glorify Him, to walk with Him . . . and to be a true worshipper.

You expressed this very well. Christmas used to mean all of that hoopla to me also but I have come to realize how wrong that was and how important it is too keep our focus on Christ. I'm sure He is very disappointed in our behavior as we claim to celebrate His birth. I wonder how many children today really know why we celebrate Christmas.
